Fifty runes across ten families — every one cut from ore you mined yourself, socketed into steel forever. No drops, no luck: if you want power in the stone, you go down and get the stone.

Ore from the veins, catalysts from the beasts that guard them.
The Quarrymaster cuts ore + catalyst into a rune. Higher tiers ask for rarer stone and a higher Mining level.
A Rune Chisel cuts ONE socket into finished steel — 50% to bite true. On a miss only the chisel is lost.
At the Rune Station (Quarrymaster → Socket). Permanent: never removed, only overwritten.
Main-stat runes grant flat points that always show up on your Character sheet. Elemental runes grant flat resistance. Every value below is read from the live game data.

Old miners carved this one before every descent.
A miner's chisel ground fine enough to open a socket in finished steel. It bites true 50% of the time — on a miss only the chisel is lost, your gear is NEVER damaged. And it only ever cuts the first socket: one piece of gear, one rune.
Every recipe is the same shape: the TIER decides which ore, the FAMILY decides which catalyst — an essence or a monster part. Combine the two tables and you can read all fifty recipes.

No — socketing is permanent. You can only overwrite it with another rune, which destroys the old one.
One. A chisel only ever cuts the FIRST socket.
They don't — every rune is CUT at the Quarrymaster from ore you mined and catalysts that drop from monsters.
No. Zero durability silences the gear's stats AND its rune until you repair it.
Only the chisel is lost. Your gear is never damaged — cut another and try again.
